Adopt a Site

We launched our Adopt a Site program in 2024, and two years later it’s going strong. 19 of our 37 currently active monitoring sites are currently adopted!
Our 70+ volunteers monitor these sites in Wisconsin’s Lake Superior Basin, collecting monthly chemistry data and twice-per-year macroinvertebrate samples. These volunteers log astounding hundreds of hours to add to the information about our waters!
Each of these sites costs us about $500 per year to maintain. We provide equipment, supplies, training, management, and help manage the data, and we are constantly trying to improve the Water Quality Program.
Adopting a Site means providing that financial support. It ensures continued monitoring at the places you love most. In a time when grants are fluctuating and the funding landscape is changing, our community continues to make the biggest difference. And there’s no better way to stay connected to people, land, and water than keeping this stewardship going.
Thank You to Our Current Site Adopters
We can continue to monitor these sites because of the financial support of our incredible donors. Thank you to our Site Adopters for supporting our volunteers and our work.

How a Bequest Works
A bequest is a gift made through your will or living trust, specifying a portion of your estate to be donated to an organization or fund of your choosing after your passing. Bequests offer flexibility, allowing you to designate a specific amount, percentage of your estate, or even residual assets to support the causes you care about.
Types of Bequests:
- Specific Bequest: Designate a specific dollar amount or particular asset.
- Percentage Bequest: Allocate a percentage of your estate.
- Residual Bequest: Contribute the remainder of your estate after other bequests and expenses are fulfilled.
Things to Consider
- Legal Counsel: Consult with legal professionals to ensure your will accurately reflects your wishes and complies legal requirements. It is also advisable to inform SRWA of your intentions.
- Recognition: Consider whether you would like your bequest to be recognized publicly.
- Review Regularly: Periodically review and update your will to ensure that it aligns with your current wishes and circumstances.
